Sourdough Baking Class

Ever dreamed of hand-making your own bread? Tired of paying for 50+ ingredient, preservative-packed, store-bought bread? 

Sourdough bread is the original method of bread-making dating back to 1500 BC. As it has grown in popularity in recent years, you may find yourself overwhelmed with the amount of information, rules, and recipes you find online. My goal is to un-complicate sourdough for you while teaching you a skill that will benefit your family forever.

During this class, you will:

1. Learn every step of sourdough from beginning to end: from mastering your Sourdough Starter, to mixing, proofing, and baking your first loaf! 

2. Take home a made-in-class loaf of bread to bake on your own

3. Take home your very own active sourdough starter to continue your baking journey

What's included:

  • 1 cup of my active Sourdough Starter
  • 32 Oz glass jar for your new Sourdough Starter
  • 1 Banneton Bread Basket and Liner
  • 1 Bread Lame
  • 1 Loaf of bread to take home and bake
  • PDF + physical copy of class notes, recipes, and resources

Meet Your Instructor

Sydney Chastain is the Founder and Owner of Joy Artisan Bakery, based in Coppell, TX. She discovered her love of baking, cooking, and all things culinary-creative while learning from Joy, her Italian-American nonna (grandmother). After mastering the art of sourdough baking, she grew her bakery from the ground up by selling at Farmer's Markets, catering to businesses, and providing bread for families across the state of Texas.
